About El Cajon 92021

El Cajon is a larger region than most in the east county and  includes properties lying both in the City of El Cajon proper and in the County of San Diego. This particular area of El Cajon extends from the older Bostonia district in the valley to the eastern outskirts of Blossom Valley near Alpine and the somewhat isolated, rural communities of Harbison Canyon and Crest. Crest was particularly ravaged by the 2003 Ceder fires and has been in a rebuilding process ever since. While the hills and mountains in this area are filled with custom homes and gated communities with stunning views, the valley floor is mostly a middle class neighborhood of older construction and many larger residential lots. Many of the valley floor residents have a scenic view of the surrounding, tree lined mountains and rolling hills above.

There is also two Kaiser medical facilities in town. Cuyamaca Community College, located in Rancho San Diego, boasts a spectacular sports complex with a fitness center. The college was the recipient of building funds from a recent bond election and is expanding it's facilities and curriculum offerings rapidly. Recreation includes 9 parks, four swimming pools, Lake Jennings, Westfield Parkway Plaza, and several recreation centers. There are also three exceptional golf courses (Cottonwood, Steele Canyon, and Singing Hills) within a few minutes drive from anywhere in El Cajon.
